Alamosa Streets Trust Fund
In 2019, Alamosa City Council proposed a ½ cent dedicated street tax in order to improve several roads within the city that desperately needed reconstruction. The price tag to improve the streets was so high, that Council knew a dedicated tax was needed.
A streets committee was then created in order to identify streets that needed improvement and place them on a list in order of the highest priority.
In January 2020, the street tax was passed! This is a 10-year tax with 100% dedicated to road improvements that will sunset in 2030.
Since the passing of the tax, the City has spent over $13 million on the following street improvements and various overlays:
- First Street phases 4 and 5
- Overlay on Fourteenth St from Hunt Ave to the Old Airport Rd.
- Overlay on Twelfth St From Ross Ave to to the Old Airport Rd.
- State Avenue
- Victoria Ave
- La Veta Ave
- Washington Avenue
- Second Street
- Pike Avenue
- West Sixth Street
- As well as chip seal repairs on 16 other streets!

With the Streets Trust Fund Sales Tax set to sunset in 2030, Alamosa voters will consider a 10-year extension in November 2026. Without this continued revenue, rising construction costs will prevent the city from maintaining essential road infrastructure.
Here is a list of the proposed streets should the sales tax be renewed:
