Alleyway Improvement Project Underway
Alamosa, CO – On Monday, March 30th, The City of Alamosa began the alleyway improvement and beautification project on the south side of Main Street between Edison and Hunt Avenues. The project will include infrastructure and utility upgrades, replacement of the existing alley surface with new concrete paving, and related improvements intended to enhance functionality, safety, and long-term durability.
Following completion of the infrastructure work, the City intends to implement a beautification program for the alleys that will include elements such as public art installations, trash enclosures, lighting, landscaping, and other aesthetic enhancements designed to create a more attractive and welcoming downtown environment. The overall goal of the project is to improve both the operational use and visual character of the alley while supporting adjacent businesses and contributing to ongoing downtown revitalization efforts.
The first phase of the project, spanning Edison to San Juan, is currently underway, with the second phase from State to Hunt anticipated to begin in April, followed by the third phase from San Juan to State expected to start in June.
