Pike Avenue Road Closure Beginning Monday, March 2, 2026

Alamosa, CO – Construction on the Pike Avenue improvement project will begin Monday, March 2, 2026. This project is funded by the Alamosa Streets Trust Fund Sales Tax that was passed in 2019 and involves a complete reconstruction of Pike Avenue from Main Street (Hwy 160) to First Street. Over the next three months, crews will replace vital infrastructure, including water lines, sewer lines, sidewalks, and curb and gutter systems.

To facilitate these improvements, Pike Avenue will be closed from Highway 160 to First Street starting March 2 and will remain closed through the duration of the project. Additionally, Second Street will be closed to through traffic from Pike Avenue to Blanca Avenue. For safety of the public and the construction crews, no local access will be permitted within the active closure zone during working hours, which are 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Residents living within the construction zone may access their homes via First Street, provided it is outside of active construction hours (7:00 am – 5:00 pm). However, the street will be completely closed to all other motorists, who should follow the posted detours to avoid the construction area.

Residents within the project area must ensure that no vehicles, RVs, or trailers are parked on the street or within the public right-of-way.

The City of Alamosa appreciates your patience and understanding as we work to complete this project.
