Notice of Flood Warning Status - Be Prepared
Attention Alamosa city and county residents: Specific areas of the city and county are now in Flood Warning status. Although the Flood Warning status includes the entire city of Alamosa, the neighborhoods north of the dike surrounding Cattails Golf Course are most at risk. The Flood Warning also includes neighborhoods north along North River Road and the East Alamosa area from the Hwy 160 Bridge east to Rd 112 - Harmony Lane, and North to County Rd 6 and along South River Road. Motorists should not drive through flooded county roadways.
Staff continues to monitor conditions closely. While the current forecast approaches high capacity and localized pooling remains a potential risk, the levee system is expected to hold. River levels are projected to peak late Wednesday.
If you are located in the areas identified most at risk, it is advisable that you make arrangements to leave your home should a sudden change occur. In order to prepare, please gather important documents and medications should an evacuation order become mandatory. If evacuations do become mandatory, evacuation centers will be established for residents and information will be provided at that time.
Please be aware of your surroundings and stay proactive. If you feel unsafe or may need extra time to evacuate, please do not wait for a mandatory evacuation order.
Residents may notice that the City is running the sprinklers for the Front 9 at the Golf Course. This is part of an effort to keep the water level down in the sloughs surrounding the Cattails subdivision.
To report damage call non-emergent dispatch at (719) 589-5807.
For life threatening situations, please call 911.
